Keep Your Home California helps struggling California homeowners with mortgage payment assistance at no charge. This federally-funded program may help homeowners who are underwater, who are behind on their payments, or who are unemployed. In San Bernardino County, more than 4,600 homeowners have received $91 million in assistance from this program. Keep Your Home California has the following programs:
|Mortgage Reinstatement Assistance Program||Helps eligible homeowners reinstate their first mortgage loan if they have fallen behind due to short-term financial problems.|
|Principal Reduction Program (PRP)||Helps eligible homeowners who have suffered financial hardship obtain sustainable mortgage payments by reducing principal loan balances.|
|Unemployment Mortgage Assistance |
|Provides temporary assistance to eligible homeowners who have suffered involuntary unemployment.|
|Transitional Assistance Program (TAP)||Provides one-time funds to help eligible homeowners transition to new housing after executing a short sale or deed-in-lieu of foreclosure.|
